Marge, in Charge
Planting my flag on some questions concerning rural life
That is Marge, proprietress of Marge’s Bait and Tackle in Henry, Illinois.
I’ve mentioned the dacha I keep nearby in Marshall County, that I’d be reflecting from time to time on my observations of rural small-town life and what I’ve termed its “poignant dialectic”: “its glories, which do not doubt are genuine, and also profound, dangerous dermerits, which by Year Ten of the reign of our Dark MAGA Lord are all too well known.” Places like Marge’s are one of the glories. Hang on after the jump, and we’ll wend our way through to one of the more headache-inducing demerits.
